LYRICS AND VISUALS
I'm trying to save us girl...
They got that...
They got that kryptonite...

:This first part of the video I would
want a close-up in slow motion zooming outwards.

[Verse 1:]
It seems the more I try to do right,
The more I lie about being at sessions and leaving at certain times,

:Here I want to have a scene with the artist arguing with
his girlfriend on the phone in black and white.

She's like, "Where you at?"
I'm at the studio at home,
:mid-shot of her being upset and very emotional and the situation .

and I'm thinking to myself we cut that record days ago.
Cause shorty on the east side, hit me and want to know if I could stop by,

:Artist looking at his phone then a close -up on artist to show my disappointment.

Now I'm comtemplating what I am gonna say, bout this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
: Close up of the artist preforming

I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
:Slide transition of different solo parts of the artist

These girls my kryptonite,
And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
Out here dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
:Mid-shot to show the artists clothing and jewellery

These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
Oh baby.
: Scene of artist walking into a restaurant with another women

[Verse 2:]
It's like the more I brush them off, the more they call,
:Close -up shot of him and the other women getting very close

The more I want to tell them that I'm not involved,
With anyone, when I know it's you,
Wanna tell the truth but it's just so hard to do,
:Close -up shot other the women's hand

Caught up in me again it's driving me crazy
It's the reason I won't tell em i got a lady,
:Touching the artist's hand
Now I'm trying to contemplate on what I am gonna say, on this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Bridge:]
No matter what I do, I know that your my true love,
: Scene him rushing out and leaving the women alone at the dinner

But I just cant help it to get caught up with all these broads,
:Him arriving at his house black and white editing

Sittin here with this mic in my hand,
Trying to record the words to make my baby understand.
:He find out his Girlfriend isn't home

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
:Artist solo part mid-shot showing his performance more clearly

I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
:He calls her this is also a close-up shot to show the artist's emotion
[Verse 3:]
I want you to be my louis lane,
:Slide transition of her on the other line reacting to what he is saying

Girl I promise I'm gonna change, and it aint gonna be this way forever,
Girl I'm gonna get myself together, cause your the one I love,
:Close-up shot of him performing his solo part

Because your like a drug that I can't get enough of,
I'm just so confused, dont know what to do,
Cause the way that it's feeling, I like how it's feeling,
It's getting so hard, to fight that feeling.
:Shot of her putting on her jacket and immediately goes to see him

[Chorus: x2]
I wanna be your superman,
I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
:They hug and kiss close- up shot

Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
:Solo performance close-up shot

These girls got kryptonite,
:Artist takes her hand and walks her towards the beach
These girls my kryptonite,
close-up shot on the imprint on the beach saying
'will you marry me'

And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
:Close-up shot of her reaction

Out here doing dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
:Solo part from the artist mid-shot

These girls my kryptonite,
:Slow motion he takes her off her feet and gives her a spinning hug

These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite
:finally another solo part from the artist

Analyses Of A Music Magazine Advert

The Magazine advert that I am going to be analysing is the magazine advert of 5o Cent .After releasing his mixtape Guess who’s Back? in 2002, he was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records His commercial debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) earned him a Best New Artist nomination at the 46th Grammy Awards a Billboard Music Award for Album of the Year, and the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award. 50 Cent's second album The Massacre (2005) earned him five Grammy nominations, six Billboard Music Awards, and another ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award. His third album Curtis made him the Best-Selling Hip-Hop Artist at the 2007 World Music Awards. Currently, 50 Cent has received 69 awards from 83 nominations

When studying the advert the colour immediately comes to my attention and already indicates to us the tone of the magazine which can be perceived as a dark gloomy tone to express evil and destruction to the audience. This perhaps was created to draw the attention of 50’s target audience. The artist’s name is very clear to she this is assisted by the font and size of the artist’s name it is also helped by the colour because the background of the advert is dark and the white colour really stands out clearly. The sub text which I believe is the name of the album is also clear for the audience to see however isn’t as dominant as the artist’s name this could suggest that the artist name is more important and would have a bigger effect on his target audience. The name of the album is in a font that would suggest a more aggressive tone to the advert and the name of the album ‘Before I self destruct’ also encourages his target audience of that aggression and hunger almost the font of the text would also expressing that it was handwritten.

The central image is of the artist 50 cent who is looking directly at his audience this has been done to draw his audience and to connect with them .There is a fog behind the artist image to suggest that there is something burning and there has been effects on the face of 50 Cent he has been burnt to which conveys violence and aggression you cannot see his eyes which would suggest to his audience that he may be in the dark about something. When looking at the title ’before I self destruct’ and the central image there is a link allowing us to understand that he wants to complete his something of achieve something before its to late and the image allows us to observe that there isn’t much time because he his already burning. When looking at the facial expressions of 50 cent it is very bold and serious allowing his audience to understand that he means business and that his out to achieve and not fail . The layout of the advert is very simple but effective by making it easier for the audience to understand the meaning of the album without having to read about it.

The image allows those that know about 50 Cent to straight away spot what genre of music he does and what type of person he is. The dark and aggressive look that 50 Cent is expressing is of rapper he promotes himself as being very dominant not only in the advert but everywhere his clothing is also dark making himself stand out as a kingpin.

At the bottom of the magazine advert the date is shown to inform the audience about when the album will be released

Digipak Analysis

When observing this digipak I realised that there wasn’t an image of the star artist this has already came to my attention that the artist wants the audience to perceive the band as an inexplicable figure. When analysing the front on the digipak it seems plain and basic however it sets the theme of the rest of the digipak the title is clear this is helped by the different background colours. The title is in a diverse font with the letter ’R’ stretched towards the next letter the central image draws the attention of the audience straight away because it is the most dominant and only image on the page. When first seeing this image I thought that it was quiet odd however it seems to me that perhaps this image is a logo of some sort which allows audiences to acknowledge who the artist is. Which could be the reason why the artist didn’t show their image properly knowing that fans of distorture would only need this symbol to be aware of there album. However for new audience it will have a inefficient effect because the symbol wouldn’t have the same effect a image of the band would have which would allow new audiences to have a connection with the band and draw them in. The different colours represent the band as being distress and may convey there different sides the white could express ‘purity’ and the red may symbolise ‘evil’.

When looking inside the digipak the packaging has a pale white hand really emphasises on the blood to make it look more intimidating it has a main image a close-up shot showing of a hand terrifyingly drenched in blood and the colour red is a sign of danger pain and suffering. When looking image I could see that the image is in black and white which also could have been used to set a particular tone or mood to the audience and already expresses what type of music would be inside the album. The images have been purposely used to make the artist and their album controversially stated the colours used in the inside of the digipak really cements its meaning and brings its presence to the digipak allowing people to already understand how there feeling without listening to the CD.The packaging promots the band by using the colours and the images of the blood and the hand attract people and try to have that connection with there target auidence.

The name of the artist or band is Distorture and they seem to have their own unique style and image for their band. As they are a folk band this design and layout is not what you would typically expect from this band. The digipak is rather different to other digipaks that I have analysed very simple but has a strong meaning and presence allowing the audience to be drawn in by its simplicity but powerful meaning. The way that it is laid out it perhaps for the there target audience which like the genre of the music has been described as Folk, Ambient Industrial music this is definitely not what would be expected of a folk band and things that come to mind are guitars and nature.

The back of the digipak shows a box image of the hand covered in blood allowing people to understand the theme of the album without having to listen to the CD. The packaging overall lacks a lot of crucial information when it comes to a digipak. It has been laid out to emphasis on the bold images instead of the information on the band. The album is called revere which means to regard with awe, deference, and devotion which suggest that the band have many different aims awe the power to inspire dread defence would be to protect there selves. Devotion could mean they would devote there selves to a cause to a purpose and all these things would be explained more clearly in the album which again would interest people and bring in a bigger audience.

I feel that they are a very optimistic band and have been ambitions for their future as the images are what really intrigues the audience therefore makes the band more recognized and make them want to pick it up without even knowing what type of music the band sing. Distorture is a New Zealand duo experimenting in dark folk & ambient, noise & industrial
