LYRICS AND VISUALS
I'm trying to save us girl...
They got that...
They got that kryptonite...

:This first part of the video I would
want a close-up in slow motion zooming outwards.

[Verse 1:]
It seems the more I try to do right,
The more I lie about being at sessions and leaving at certain times,

:Here I want to have a scene with the artist arguing with
his girlfriend on the phone in black and white.

She's like, "Where you at?"
I'm at the studio at home,
:mid-shot of her being upset and very emotional and the situation .

and I'm thinking to myself we cut that record days ago.
Cause shorty on the east side, hit me and want to know if I could stop by,

:Artist looking at his phone then a close -up on artist to show my disappointment.

Now I'm comtemplating what I am gonna say, bout this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
: Close up of the artist preforming

I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
:Slide transition of different solo parts of the artist

These girls my kryptonite,
And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
Out here dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
:Mid-shot to show the artists clothing and jewellery

These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
Oh baby.
: Scene of artist walking into a restaurant with another women

[Verse 2:]
It's like the more I brush them off, the more they call,
:Close -up shot of him and the other women getting very close

The more I want to tell them that I'm not involved,
With anyone, when I know it's you,
Wanna tell the truth but it's just so hard to do,
:Close -up shot other the women's hand

Caught up in me again it's driving me crazy
It's the reason I won't tell em i got a lady,
:Touching the artist's hand
Now I'm trying to contemplate on what I am gonna say, on this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Bridge:]
No matter what I do, I know that your my true love,
: Scene him rushing out and leaving the women alone at the dinner

But I just cant help it to get caught up with all these broads,
:Him arriving at his house black and white editing

Sittin here with this mic in my hand,
Trying to record the words to make my baby understand.
:He find out his Girlfriend isn't home

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
:Artist solo part mid-shot showing his performance more clearly

I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
:He calls her this is also a close-up shot to show the artist's emotion
[Verse 3:]
I want you to be my louis lane,
:Slide transition of her on the other line reacting to what he is saying

Girl I promise I'm gonna change, and it aint gonna be this way forever,
Girl I'm gonna get myself together, cause your the one I love,
:Close-up shot of him performing his solo part

Because your like a drug that I can't get enough of,
I'm just so confused, dont know what to do,
Cause the way that it's feeling, I like how it's feeling,
It's getting so hard, to fight that feeling.
:Shot of her putting on her jacket and immediately goes to see him

[Chorus: x2]
I wanna be your superman,
I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
:They hug and kiss close- up shot

Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
:Solo performance close-up shot

These girls got kryptonite,
:Artist takes her hand and walks her towards the beach
These girls my kryptonite,
close-up shot on the imprint on the beach saying
'will you marry me'

And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
:Close-up shot of her reaction

Out here doing dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
:Solo part from the artist mid-shot

These girls my kryptonite,
:Slow motion he takes her off her feet and gives her a spinning hug

These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite
:finally another solo part from the artist

Analyses Of A Music Magazine Advert

The Magazine advert that I am going to be analysing is the magazine advert of 5o Cent .After releasing his mixtape Guess who’s Back? in 2002, he was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records His commercial debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) earned him a Best New Artist nomination at the 46th Grammy Awards a Billboard Music Award for Album of the Year, and the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award. 50 Cent's second album The Massacre (2005) earned him five Grammy nominations, six Billboard Music Awards, and another ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award. His third album Curtis made him the Best-Selling Hip-Hop Artist at the 2007 World Music Awards. Currently, 50 Cent has received 69 awards from 83 nominations

When studying the advert the colour immediately comes to my attention and already indicates to us the tone of the magazine which can be perceived as a dark gloomy tone to express evil and destruction to the audience. This perhaps was created to draw the attention of 50’s target audience. The artist’s name is very clear to she this is assisted by the font and size of the artist’s name it is also helped by the colour because the background of the advert is dark and the white colour really stands out clearly. The sub text which I believe is the name of the album is also clear for the audience to see however isn’t as dominant as the artist’s name this could suggest that the artist name is more important and would have a bigger effect on his target audience. The name of the album is in a font that would suggest a more aggressive tone to the advert and the name of the album ‘Before I self destruct’ also encourages his target audience of that aggression and hunger almost the font of the text would also expressing that it was handwritten.

The central image is of the artist 50 cent who is looking directly at his audience this has been done to draw his audience and to connect with them .There is a fog behind the artist image to suggest that there is something burning and there has been effects on the face of 50 Cent he has been burnt to which conveys violence and aggression you cannot see his eyes which would suggest to his audience that he may be in the dark about something. When looking at the title ’before I self destruct’ and the central image there is a link allowing us to understand that he wants to complete his something of achieve something before its to late and the image allows us to observe that there isn’t much time because he his already burning. When looking at the facial expressions of 50 cent it is very bold and serious allowing his audience to understand that he means business and that his out to achieve and not fail . The layout of the advert is very simple but effective by making it easier for the audience to understand the meaning of the album without having to read about it.

The image allows those that know about 50 Cent to straight away spot what genre of music he does and what type of person he is. The dark and aggressive look that 50 Cent is expressing is of rapper he promotes himself as being very dominant not only in the advert but everywhere his clothing is also dark making himself stand out as a kingpin.

At the bottom of the magazine advert the date is shown to inform the audience about when the album will be released

Digipak Analysis

When observing this digipak I realised that there wasn’t an image of the star artist this has already came to my attention that the artist wants the audience to perceive the band as an inexplicable figure. When analysing the front on the digipak it seems plain and basic however it sets the theme of the rest of the digipak the title is clear this is helped by the different background colours. The title is in a diverse font with the letter ’R’ stretched towards the next letter the central image draws the attention of the audience straight away because it is the most dominant and only image on the page. When first seeing this image I thought that it was quiet odd however it seems to me that perhaps this image is a logo of some sort which allows audiences to acknowledge who the artist is. Which could be the reason why the artist didn’t show their image properly knowing that fans of distorture would only need this symbol to be aware of there album. However for new audience it will have a inefficient effect because the symbol wouldn’t have the same effect a image of the band would have which would allow new audiences to have a connection with the band and draw them in. The different colours represent the band as being distress and may convey there different sides the white could express ‘purity’ and the red may symbolise ‘evil’.

When looking inside the digipak the packaging has a pale white hand really emphasises on the blood to make it look more intimidating it has a main image a close-up shot showing of a hand terrifyingly drenched in blood and the colour red is a sign of danger pain and suffering. When looking image I could see that the image is in black and white which also could have been used to set a particular tone or mood to the audience and already expresses what type of music would be inside the album. The images have been purposely used to make the artist and their album controversially stated the colours used in the inside of the digipak really cements its meaning and brings its presence to the digipak allowing people to already understand how there feeling without listening to the CD.The packaging promots the band by using the colours and the images of the blood and the hand attract people and try to have that connection with there target auidence.

The name of the artist or band is Distorture and they seem to have their own unique style and image for their band. As they are a folk band this design and layout is not what you would typically expect from this band. The digipak is rather different to other digipaks that I have analysed very simple but has a strong meaning and presence allowing the audience to be drawn in by its simplicity but powerful meaning. The way that it is laid out it perhaps for the there target audience which like the genre of the music has been described as Folk, Ambient Industrial music this is definitely not what would be expected of a folk band and things that come to mind are guitars and nature.

The back of the digipak shows a box image of the hand covered in blood allowing people to understand the theme of the album without having to listen to the CD. The packaging overall lacks a lot of crucial information when it comes to a digipak. It has been laid out to emphasis on the bold images instead of the information on the band. The album is called revere which means to regard with awe, deference, and devotion which suggest that the band have many different aims awe the power to inspire dread defence would be to protect there selves. Devotion could mean they would devote there selves to a cause to a purpose and all these things would be explained more clearly in the album which again would interest people and bring in a bigger audience.

I feel that they are a very optimistic band and have been ambitions for their future as the images are what really intrigues the audience therefore makes the band more recognized and make them want to pick it up without even knowing what type of music the band sing. Distorture is a New Zealand duo experimenting in dark folk & ambient, noise & industrial

Music Magazine Advert

Patrick Ogwugu from South London is a gifted young MC Disc-Overy is is the name of his album a fiery first effort from the 21-year-old, packed full of intricately produced tracks all propelled by buzzing electronics, epic riffs, pianos and strings. Kelly Rowland, Luke Steele, Ellie Goulding and Swedish House Mafia all appear, but it’s the strikingly personal lyrics his name like I said is Patrick Ogwugu however he has a stage name ’Tinie Tempah’ which is now near enough world known his stage name allows him to take a different type of persona and bring a different side of him other then Patrick Ogwugu but as Tinie Tempah.
The font of the advert is rather shape and powerful the colour really allows it to stand out beyond the rest of the image because the big difference in colour. The font isn’t big but is very noticeable to his target audience. Also the ‘A’ are missing the gap in the middle, which makes them look like triangles, this would please the trendy ‘hipster’ fans also suggesting that Tinie Tempah could be quiet artist and articulate. The way that the title is displayed it bring the right meaning and features to inform his target audience with his simplistic styling of the ad presents Tinie Tempah as a stylish artist.

Onto Tinie Tempah’s image firstly he is centred in the middle of the advert to obviously dominant the whole ad. Its very amazing how he presents himself in this image there are many ways in which his target audience could approach his meaning of the image. When we look at his clothing we can see that his is stylish his quiet wealthy we can interpret that by his watch and other jewellery that his wearing. Secondly Tinie is shown in a light which can symbolise purity protection or even more simple jus him being in the limelight all these factors allow us as an audience to see that he feels cemented and comfortable. An for his target audience they would feel great and would encourage them to want to buy the album in-between his arms it shows massive cities like the city of new York which contains the Empire State building and the city of London which holds the Big Ben. This could convey that Tinie feels that he may own these cities and both the whole of London and new York will know the name Tinie Tempah which shows that his ambitious and has goals that his yet to achieve and this as a fan of Tinie may motivate you to go for your dreams and goals and not give up because he is yet to give up on his dreams. When looking at the image you wouldnt know weather he is a rapper or a singer and could come as an advantge that people may want to find out and buy a CD.

The key features of the advert that would drive people into shops to want to buy and listen to his music and become more inspired by what he says. The image could also be seen in a way of him wanting to protect and guide cities to become better and understandable about how hard life is for does that grew up like him at the bottom and had to work up. Tinie Tempah would be sending out a message to allow people to become clearer about life and to be able to understand the troubles and problems people face and how to over come there worries and misfortune. This again expresses Tinie Tempah as big inspiration and influence to those that feel that life is running away from them and this conveys the type of musician that Tinie is and that’s why people love him and want buy his music. Tinie also in this image has these glowing colours around him making him seem magical and mysterious almost like an angel without wings watching over us.

When you look at the background of the image there are tiny starts behind him almost suggesting his outer space or in another world suggestion that he has moved on to bigger things as he now has the universe behind him his image is direct actually watching us his audience but covering his eyes portraying himself as a type of superhero watching over us but hiding his true image. His name fulfills his hip hop credentials and the image fulfills the alternative part. Tinie is presented as stylish rather than thuggish; this is atypical of other rappers tinie’s target audience, would be older teens and young adults that would firmly agree with this ethic of togetherness and determination to be the best you can be.

Fiest Digipak

Born Leslie Feist in Amherst, Nova Scotia, singer/songwriter Feist goes by her surname when it comes to making music for a living. The songstress relocated to Calgary at a young age and got her start playing in an all-girl punk band named Placebo (not to be confused with the U.K. modern rock act of the same name). After winning a battle of the bands contest, Placebo (whose members were still in high school) played their first gig opening for the Ramones in 1991, and for the next five years, Feist perfected her rock & roll ways
Fiest is the name of the digipak that I am going to analyse when observing the front cover of the digipak it presents itself as being quiet unique the image in the centre of the cover is very dominant and effective and the way it’s done is by the white background. That helps in become as dominant as it is the way the title is posted is also very different but also powerful on the cover because of the colour of the lettering the black always dominant over white. The lettering is very different to other covers with half of the title sitting up against the other half of the title This continues the black and white theme of the digipak as the images are mostly black and white and the backgrounds are white throughout the digipak.

When observing the central image of the digipak it is very noticeable to identify that his is topless. But it is hard to tell due to the heavy shadowing; Fiest seems to be doing this to continue the simplistic theme rather than being sexual. However because the was she is positioned in the image the audience wouldn’t really be able to see explicit parts of her body the strays of light going across the image stand out deeply due to the darkness of the image the image is also a close-up shot and allows the audience to be as close as they can be the image
Fiest like most artist do is the dominant and main image of the digipak when looking inside the digipak I can identify she has a range of unique pictures expressing to the audience she has different interests by her bringing together different types of images its allows her target audience to be aware that she’s different and has something different to offer to the average artist. The other dominant image is of string, this features on the front cover image and then twice in the digipak. This could be to suggest that everything is somehow connected; however there can be various interpretations, Fiest probably wanted it this way too.

The four picture of the digipak shows a image of fiest in black and white she also appears to be naked in the image which is very strong and powerful allowing the audience to really connect with the image and because it is also a close-up shot it allows the audience to take all that he or she can from the image. It’s a dark doll moody image her eyes are looking very direct perhaps to make that connection with her target audience it is very interesting the way she bring her hair down to one side to maybe allow us to observe her strong cheek bones. The third image is odd in my opinion it has different colour of sowing material this might express to the audience that she’s articulate or maybe there could be a message behind it and the colours could symbolise her different characters.

Finally her second image is very interesting it shows a white background with a human body with these unique patterns around it. When first looking at it I seemed to be very baffled about the image but when observing it closely an idea occurred to be of what it could mean. Around the head area of the body you can see that there is a small little pattern and around the heart area there is a much bigger eider pattern. This could convey that her unique ideas and thoughts when singing or writing lyrics mostly come from her heart hearty and not her head and strong fans of fiest would also agree with me about this idea. Around the mouth area you can see that there are patterns that are coming out of the mouth of the body which would perhaps symbolise the ideas and her thoughts from her heart are coming out for us her audience to hear and to understand.
Her target audience would be indie 20-30’s year olds due to the heavy 70’s influence and nostalgia that she offers.
Evaluation of planning

Planning wasn’t difficult while observing various R’N’B music videos I enhanced the ability to achieve most of the key factors I needed to include in creating and planning the music video to a satisfactory standard. The relationship between the lyrics and visuals will be an illustrative one, as the video is performance based, the narrative will illustrate the lyric. The music and visuals where very closely linked together I demonstrated a fusion between the narrative and performance 2:16.The way I have structured out my video the audience will be very aware of the storyline this is because I have linked the lyrics and the narrative very closely. In the video I have decided to have many close-up shots to express the feelings of both characters and to help the audience have that connection with the two characters. I decided that in the narrative to have a basic costume for the female character due to the fact that she’s at home to bring that realism to the video the male actor I decided to be casually dressed the locations to me where appropriate for the narrative I wanted to use. When it came to the solo performance I wanted to have a powerful and strong personality to really cement the ownership of the stage and really bring out his emotions when singing .The video will contain some scenes in grey to emphasise to the audience that they are crucial scenes to the narrative. Like most narratives the story comes to a happy ending with ‘Mario’ proposing to his girlfriend after realising who he really loves and wants to spend his life with.

Nelly ft Kelly-'Dilemma' Genre

Nelly ‘Dilemma ‘video is a classic RnB music video that was released in 2002. It followed all the conventions on an RnB music video the music video for "Dilemma" was filmed on Colonial Street, part of Universal Studios backlot. The same location is used during filming of Desperate Housewives Nelly can actually be seen sitting on the stairs of the Johnson Home (which is Susan's house in the series), while Rowland arrives to, and sits at the stairs of, the Morrison Home. There is a clear narrative shown in this video a new girl has moved into this new neighborhood and this Nelly. He begins to speak to her however she has a boyfriend but it doesn’t stop her liking Nelly and therefore she creates her dilemma weather to pick her current boyfriend or leave him for Nelly that’s a ‘dilemma’.

In the opening scene of the video the names of the artists appear on the screen which is used to introduced the artists to there audience and the title of the song is also shown. The lyric immediately express to us that Kelly has a dilemma ‘even when I’m with my boo I still think about you’ as the video goes on the shots that are used are to show that there is a happiness and strong relationship between everyone in the neighborhood as her boyfriend arrives he seems isolated. The artist clothing also convey the type of genre the music video is Nelly in a basketball top chain Gucci hat expressing his wealth and helps the audience understand his image which most fans of Nelly would no his signature plaster across his face. There are scenes where it shows Kelly and Nelly dancing suggesting that they have that connection the video continues with a steady pace all throughout the music video there are slow motions editing to express the feelings between both artists in the video. Many close up shots are used to show the facial expressions for example (4.08) to show her disgust that she show Nelly with another girl there is a split screen editing in the video to show how both artists facial expressions when watching each other (1.52) the reason for these different shot is because the video is also very performance based and it helps the artist really connection with the audience through these close-up shots and the slow motion editing. The video is performance and narrative based on a RnB genre straight as the narrative begins the immediate connection between both of them when they first see each other as the story develops Kelly’s boyfriend begins to act up and Nelly like he said in his lyrics ‘Cause I wait for my cue and just listen, play my position’ and that is what Nelly does. Which is a example of the relationship between visuals and lyrics.

This video is a very different style to Nelly’s previous music videos he doesn’t change the genre of his music but this video shows a different style to nelly.nelly in his previous videos is that player that gangster with lots of women surrounding him and money flying everywhere while in contrast to that this video is very calm and mellow and shows a more affectionate Nelly which has broadened his fan base showing that he has ideological power. The image that is being portrayed of Nelly is that he is that caring loving person that will try his best to get a girl that he likes the ay the record company try to sell this track is by connecting with people in the same situation and help people understand that when they like someone they should take a gamble. The conventions of this genre are used very well emotions of a female (Kelly) are shown which is seen in the narrative perspective the appearance of Kelly was with high heels jewellery and looking ever so fashionable and Nelly which I have described previously. Cars which I featured in the video that the time of this video the car was very expensive which expressed to audience the wealthy side of the video because it was a love story we cant be surprised that there wasn’t mean women in the video and money flying everywhere but most of the conventions where ticked. Just to conclude the video is a very different type of video that we have seen form a artist like Nelly although is doesn’t use all the conventions of a RnB video is uses enough the video is based on a narrative about two people begin in love but the other has a dilemma weather to pick her boyfriend over her new crush. The lyrics are simple however a powerful effect of the audience has especially the ones that are in the same type of situation.

Video Analyse

The video that I am analysing is called ‘without me’ from the famous rap artist Eminem. The video was directed by Joseph Khan who is an American music video, advertising, and feature film director. The genre of the music video is hip-hop however Eminem expresses his videos in a different style compared to other rap musicians which could confuse viewers on what type of genre the music it is. Like most hip-hop videos featuring rap artists their videos would include big cars, girls, jewellery and money everywhere. Where as Eminem creates his videos in a more energetic a entertaining style however sometimes shows basic rap artist symptoms featuring his crew in most of his videos and the type of clothing he wears. The music video features a number of scenarios built around its context, including Eminem and Dr. Dre as parodies of comics in general, specifically Batman, Robin and Blade trying to save a child who bought a copy of The Eminem Show that has a Parental Advisory sticker which is a strong expression of intertextuality.
From the start of the video we notice the comic fonts that appear on the screen which already convey the theme of the music video a child had bought a Copy of The Eminem Show that has a Parental Advisory sticker on it and from the context of the comic font it quotes ‘a distracted mother leads to a crisis’ expressing that there is a problem. From the next scene the video suggests that it is a narrative because it begins from Eminem emerging from his bed to receive a message from Dr. Dre who is conveyed as batman. Eminem then expresses to the audience that he is robin and this shows intertextuality with Eminem and Dr. Dre as super hero trying to save this young boy from listening to the cd which in some way is the villain in this story and needs to be saved which is stated in in the comic fonts that appear as the video goes on ‘what’s this another troubled youth in danger who will save him’.
In the video there are many ways in which Eminem shows the relationship between his lyrics and the visuals shown in the video. When he sings ‘guess whose back’ already Eminem makes contact with the audience by questioning them and from the visual which shows a light in the dark cloudy sky with the letter ‘E’ which obviously symbolises himself as a superhero. Using this visual also shows intertextuailty because we have seemed this theme previously in a number of batman films.in many parts of the video there are small clips which express Eminem’s personality as a joker, comedian and entertainer. In ways Eminem shows this side in the video is by mocking a number of Eminem's critics, including Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne Cheney the FCC and MTV Chris Kirkpatrick, Limp Bizkit and Moby as well as lampooning comparisons of Eminem to Elvis Presley as a white man succeeding commercially in a predominantly African-American art form. A line in the song also attacks his own mother for the lawsuit she filed against him for the lyrics of his debut single "My Name Is".all these mockeries can also be represented as intertextuailty showing Tv shows ect.
There are not many camera shots that I could use to support the fact it was used to express a type of emotions or meaning. However there was one that I had noticed at the early scenes of the video, there is a zoom in shot then a close up shot on Eminem to perhaps express his seriousness as he puts on his mask. When looking that this video and listening to the track ways in which the company would have wanted to draw people’s attention to buy the track would have been laughter as a key element. Ways in which he done this was the mockery of all his critics and the costumes and props he used to portray them. As a Eminem fan myself the style in which he used to create this video its new to me as he has previously done with other videos like ‘just lose it’ and ‘we made you’ in which he also makes mockery of Jessica Simpson. The tone of the video is energetic and enjoyable expressing eminem's state of mind at that current moment maybe seeing everything as a joke and not to serious so the video also helps us understand the types of feelings and thoughts the artist may have at this time.
As the story develops Eminem(robin) and Dr. Dre(batman) enter the rapmobile which Eminem uses intertextual referencing again to batman and the batmobile. The lyrics are going with the visual as he sings that ‘its a job for me’ expressing that he will be the one to save the day an as the video gets closer to the end visual fonts of the old school batman fonts appear conveying intertextuality. As robin climbs the wall intertextuality is used again when the mans head pops out the window which happened in the old school batman movie.

As Eminem eventually gets to this youths window he takes the cd magically before the cd is placed into the cd player and signals to the child that the cd isn’t for his age and shows him the sign in which it says Parental Advisory.

In the video the visuals more or less go with the beat of the of the song however there are some parts were some of the visuals are quicker the the actual beat. For example when he makes a mocky of elvis dancing in the bathroom. There are solo parts in the video that convey eminem as the typical hip-hop rapper expressed in his appearance his clothing tattoos and woolly hat. What I like about the video is that is has a continuing theme using the speech bubbles in every scene of the video an has intertextuality in almost every part of the video. When looking at this video the image of the artist that is trying to be portrayed by the director or music company is this I don't care,do what I want to do attitude.

The video offers a performance in the sense that the video is built as a narrative which the story line is him conveyed as a superhero trying to save this young fan from listening to his cd which expresses to us that eminem has economic and artistic power although the story line isn't as powerful as his previous narrative videos such as 'stan' and 'when I'm gone'. Like I have said before eminem like before has concentrated his focus onto music but has also done is by making a mockery out of his critics and treatment by the media. In this video the many attention or focus wasn't really about sending the message to younger fans that they shouldn't listen to his music but more of a message to his critics and the music world.Stating that his back his here to prove a point and that no critic will stand in his way and if they do he will make a mockery of them like he has done in this video. The visuals of the video are not serious at all eminem in this video shows the funny side to his personality the camera work and editing helped to bring everything together. linking up visuals and lyrics together and as viewers of this video we should find it hilarious and entertaining to watch however other viewers may find it offensive.
Star Image Analysis

The star that I will be analysing is called Robert Sylvester Kelly also known as R.kelly who is known for his amazing voice and the songs that he has released.R.Kelly has released over nine successful albums and still going strong he has had a long music career moving from different music genres to the next which has increased his fan base and made him become more ideological powerful. However R Kelly has also been in the limelight for the wrong reasons. In his personal life, Kelly has had several sex scandals reports surfaced that he allegedly married Aaliyah while she was still minor. In 2002, a video of a man purported to be him having sex with what was alleged to be an underage girl was released and R Kelly was indicted on several counts of child pornography. Bootleg copies of that tape became widely available on the black market and over file sharing networks. After several delays, his case went to trial in 2008, with the jury ruling Kelly not guilty on all 14 counts.

When looking at are R.Kelly and the videos and songs that he has created they all show and produce a different side to him. Some expressing him as an wealthy passionate man with a lot of emotion and others conveying him as a thug living that gangster life and all these video are seen as a vehicle for stars to use to express there selves in a particular way depending on what’s going on in there life at that current time. Which R.Kelly does a lot to perhaps to enable him to have that connect with the audience and express his feelings and to generate that relationship between himself and he audience another way of saying this is that he has artistic power having control over his own image.

One famous song that R.Kelly wrote was called ‘I Wish’ which is a song recorded for the album TP-2.com it was released as the album's first single. It spent three weeks at number-one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number fourteen on the US pop chart. The song is dedicated to his mother as well as friends and loved ones who have died. In This video that R Kelly is in he expresses himself as a very emotional person with passion and deep care we see this from his performance in the video looking up to the sky clinching his fist. The tone of his voice in this video also tell the story the setting of the video shows that R.Kelly has a lot of ideological power in the video it also conveys him as an wealthy man however listening to him lyrics he stated that he would give it all up to see him mother once again. Which express how much he loved him mother and that behind the success is a person that has been wounded man and because of these types of songs allowed R.Kelly to become economically powerful allowing himself to connect with his audience expressing his emotions and feelings. In a way R.Kelly conveys that he is lost and confused when there is a pause from the music and a scene appears showing him talking to his mother asking for answers. In some scenes it shows R.Kelly with a bandana around his head and a chain and a big car which is showing Kelly as not just the inspirational emotional type but a bit of a thug.

‘Ignition (Remix)’s a song written and produced by American R&B singer R. Kelly from his fourth album Chocolate Factor. It is viewed as one of his signature songs and has been very popular in the United States and Europe. In this the setting of the video is in a club as soon as we see a big expensive car stop we immediately assume R.Kelly which is shown as that ‘guy’ his a wealth man and if people didn’t know this they know now from his with his appearance the big white fur jacket and his jewellery with champagne in his hand. It has all the classic conventions of a r n b video the beautiful women the money the jewellery his image is expressed as a party exciting character with women dancing around him n him the centre of attention and the way he shows this is his performance him jumping and dancing climbing on tables and drinking. Lyrics relate with some of the visuals for example when he says ‘mama rolling that body’ it shows clips of women dancing and having a good time.

In the final video that I am going to mention Kelly Is portrayed rather differently to the other videos I have spoke about previously but this is evidence to what I had said previously about R.Kelly having the ability to switch to different genres and adapt very comfortable which has helped him increase his fan base and become more economically powerful. The next video is called ‘the storm is over now’ which is a spiritual song expressing R.Kelly as this holy spiritual person .The video is set in the mountains probably used to allow audience to feel more closer to GOD Kelly’s appearance conveys a lot his all white outfit symbolise purity justice and peace allowing us as audience to see .R.Kelly in a more influential but powerful fashion his lyrics also help us understand his struggle but he found his faith and belief in God helped him through the hard time when singing ‘the storm is over now and I can see the sunshine’ .This tone of voice in the song expresses that he is very passionate and he seems very emotional and a strong sense of seriousness in the video and his performance in the video also shows this in the video his jumping and raising his hands toward the sky which helps us see the strong and emotional belief he has in God. At the end of the video R.Kelly falls to his knees given himself to God which also suggests a faithful and passionate R.Kelly he also shows his ideological power using a quire to bring a more powerful and spiritual effect to the video. R.Kelly like some musicians base the songs on what happens in their personal life and here Kelly expresses that he was going though tough times and truant to God and God found a way out for him so Kelly is sending out a message to his audience to always believe in God because he his the guardian of us all.
